Two new LED driver ICs for vehicle illumination are being developed by Macroblock.

House of LED driver IC design According to the business, Macroblock has developed two new driver ICs for vehicle interior/exterior lighting, the MBI6659Q and MBI6665Q, and has received AEC (Automotive Electronics Council)-Q100 certification for both versions.

Both the MBI6659Q and MBI6665Q are constant-current and high-brightness LED drive ICs for automotive taillights, brake lights, and daytime running lights, but only the MBI6659Q is suitable for fog lights, ambience lights, and position lights, and only the MBI6665Q is suitable for headlights, according to
Macroblock. According to Macroblock, MBI6665Q can report abnormal situations to an external mechanism for further control decision making, such as excessively high temperature and current.

Macroblock hopes to ship the two models to supply chain suppliers for worldwide automakers on an OEM basis in the first half of 2022, after passing certification by potential clients.

Despite the fact that LED driver ICs used in automotive lighting account for less than 5% of Macroblock's total revenues, the company is optimistic about the large potential global demand for such ICs, which will be fueled by increasing LED penetration in automotive lighting and the fast-growing demand for electric vehicles.

Despite fierce pricing rivalry in China, Macroblock began raising prices for several product lines in January 2022.

In January, Marcoblock reported consolidated revenues of NT$242.8 million (US$8.7 million), up 5.52 percent month over month and 26.57 percent year over year.
